Mammography Van Services

Do Essence members have access to mammography van services?

Essence prides itself in the health and well-being of our members. Essence offers our members information about how to obtain screening for breast cancer services in their neighborhood.

How can this benefit me?

The risk of breast cancer increases gradually as a woman gets older. A screening mammogram is an x-ray of the breast used to detect breast changes in women. It can often show a lump before it is felt. Early detection can lead to further testing to determine if abnormal cells are present.

When should women have screening mammograms?

In the United States, yearly examinations are often performed, especially for women over 50. Women between 40 and 49 years old also may benefit from yearly mammograms.

Women who are at increased risk for breast cancer regardless of their age should seek medical advice about when to begin having mammograms and how often to be screened.
